About
I have worked at RightNow for a LONG time. I recently passed my 10 year anniversary with the company. When I started I was something like employee 18. Through attrition I am now employee 6! Back in 1999 all three of us in the development organization sat in one room in a condemned grade school. There were a total of 4 offices in that condemned school: Development, Greg, Server Room, Sales & Support. We had one release per month and there was no QA team! Talk about excitement! 8 of the past 10 years were spent in Product Development where I was in charge of the Research team who were responsible for creating the knowledge base and search engine (and a few other things). Then I created the team that came up with the beta version of Customer Portal and ran that team in addition to the Research team. After over a year of effort on CP I decided I wanted a bit of a change to get back to the "small company" roots and see some things outside of Bozeman. So, I switched to a Professional Services position out of our Sydney, Australia office. They were much more like what I remember from "back in the day" and I also got to interact with customers much more than when I was in development, which was nice. And I got to live near the beach and ride a ferry to work! I spent 6 months there before taking a diversion over to New Zealand to work with our partner there for about a month. After my year away (hmmm, how does 6 months Australia + 1 month New Zealand make a year? Perhaps it was those 4.5 months of vacation that I am forgetting....) I came back into a role in Product Management where I can take the combination of my development, professional services and customer interaction experiences and leverage that into future product roadmap.
