Great idea! Agree it is hard to be able to decphire what changes have been made and then the why factor.

It would be super awesome if configuration changes could be tracked in an audit log - specifically changes to message bases and configuration settings.  This would make upgrading much easier, especially since it is easy to forget to document a change.  If everything in "System Configuration" was tracked, then during an upgrade, we could just use that list to confirm our changes.

Yes, a complete change control system, with versioning, would be ideal. But at least a full log would be helpful. The rules editor has a basic history, but this is not easily accessible and does not show the actual change history.

Yes!  This would be super awesome.  I would also like to see it track all changes in the "System Configuration" including any changes to message bases, agedatabaseutility config settings, etc.  Having a log of every change would make upgrading super easy when it comes to identifying changes made to configuration.

I don't suppose we can have this in place for the Aug 09 release?

I think this is a great idea.  Noah mentioned that System Configuration changes should  be logged.  I believe this currently is the case in the "Log File" on the Settings page.  It is only System Configuration changes, though.

We've tried to do this ourselves in a spreadsheet and the hassle factor makes it prohibitive. We generally capture big things, but there are a lot of adjustments that aren't logged.
